SUMMARY:Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementia Translational Work-in-Progress (ADRD-TWIP): Sarah Delcourte\, PhD
DESCRIPTION:“An Eye for Memory: Targeting the retina to modulate LC activity and treat cognitive deficits in Alzheimer’s Disease”\nSarah Delcourte\, PhD\nResearch Associate; Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Gary Aston-Jones’ Lab \nPrevious work has identified an indirect circuit from the retina to the Locus Coeruleus (LC) via the suprachiasmatic nucleus and dorsomedial hypothalamus\, described as the photic regulation of arousal and mood (PRAM) pathway. Dr. Delcourte will present new findings on how chemogenetic modulation of this pathway affects cognition in Alzheimer’s disease models. She is particularly interested in feedback on data analysis and the translational relevance of her findings. Her research investigates how light regulates mood and cognition through retinal pathways\, focusing on the LC as a key mediator of mood\, memory and cognitive flexibility. This work highlights the retina as a potential\, minimally invasive target for interventions in Alzheimer’s disease. This is not a formal talk; discussion and critique are very much welcome! \nDate and Time: Wednesday\, November 5\, 12 – 1 PM \nZoom: https://rutgers.zoom.us/j/94769804345?pwd=IMqJIIvuDmRl997R6O4U4NKbt6UWfs.1 \nMeeting code: 947 6980 4345.
