“Divergence from Brain CriticalityRestricts Spontaneity in Individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease Risk”

Andrew Westbrook, PhD
Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Rutgers University
Core Member, Rutgers Brain Health Institute (BHI)

Dr. Westbrook will discuss his aims page and methods for an R01 application investigating how excitation-inhibition (E-I) balance, inferred with respect to critical brain dynamics, changes with risk factors for Alzheimer’s Disease, and how these changes offer early warning signs of disease progression. He is interested in feedback on what edits will enhance his application for a revised submission. Dr. Westbrook uses computational models of brain dynamics, measured by EEG and fMRI to infer E-I balance and to evaluate changes in E-I balance in disorders like Alzheimer’s disease.
This is not a formal talk, and discussion and critique are very much welcome!
