Department of Genetics & Human Genetics Institute of New Jersey Research Seminar: Federico Bermudez-Rattoni, MD, PhD

“Enlightening the Brain’s Neural Circuits Improves Our Understanding of Cognitive Dysfunction.”
Dr. Federico Bermúdez Rattoni is an Emeritus Professor in the Neurosciences Division at the Cellular Physiology Institute, National University of Mexico (UNAM). He earned a medical degree from UNAM and a Ph.D. from UCLA. Throughout his career, he has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the Guggenheim Fellowship, the National Research Prize of Mexico, and the National University Award. He was also elected as an External Fellow at the CNLM at UC Irvine. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of neuronal plasticity related to memory consolidation and updating, demonstrating that dopaminergic circuits regulate memory recognition, particularly in relation to Alzheimer’s disease.
Host: Dr. Gleb Shumyatsky
This seminar is partially supported by funding from the Herbert and Jacqueline Krieger Klein Alzheimer’s Research Center in the Brain Health Institute
