2025 NJACE Requests for Applications (RFAs)

The NJACE is excited to announce our 2025 Requests for Applications (RFAs) for a Plus-1 Grant, Post-Doctoral Fellowship, and Seed Grant.

The New Jersey Autism Center for Excellence (NJACE) grant was awarded to Children’s Specialized Hospital (PI: Wayne Fisher – Director of Rutgers Center for Autism Research, Education and Services at the BHI, Henry Rutgers Endowed Professor of Pediatrics, RWJMS) in July 2023, with a subcontract to Rutgers University.

The goals of the NJACE are to improve health outcomes of New Jersey residents at all life stages with a focus on community-oriented research and training tailored to the autism community and their needs. This includes both basic research focused on understanding biological or environmental variables that may improve ASD outcomes in the future and clinical research focused on improving outcomes for ASD individuals.

NJACE Plus-1 Grant

The goal of the NJACE Plus-1 Grant will be to support autism investigators who have already received substantial funding (an R01 or equivalent) from a federal, state, or private entity and are interested in adding an aim to the current project. This award aims to enhance a currently ongoing research or training grant by supporting the team in adding an additional aim. Two Plus-1 grants will be awarded. Each grant will support up to $100,000 for one year. Submit the letter of Intent by March 21. Submit the application by May 16.

NJACE Postdoctoral Fellowship

The goal of the NJACE postdoctoral fellowship award is to support the training and development of promising young researchers in the field of autism. This award aims to develop and/or enhance a research training opportunity for a post-doctoral individual in the field of autism. One post-doctoral seed grant will be awarded. The grant will support up to $75,000 for one year. Submit the letter of Intent by March 21. Submit the application by May 16.

NJACE Seed Grant

The NJACE seed grants are aimed at aiding faculty in developing robust and impactful research projects or training programs in pursuit of ongoing funding. Two seed grants (one research and one training) will be awarded. The research seed grant will support up to $125,000 per year for two years ($250,000 total, including direct and indirect costs). The training seed grant will support up to $112,500 per year for two years ($225,000 total, including direct and indirect costs). Submit the letter of Intent by March 21. Submit the application by May 16.
