
BHI JFWG NIH Grant Writing Workshop
Planning and Writing Successful NIH Grant Proposals
Fundamental concepts of NIH proposal planning and writing backed by concrete tips and operational strategies that support planning and longer-term sustainability.
The BHI Junior Faculty Working Group (JFWG) is sponsoring a grant-writing workshop delivered by AtKisson Training Group. The workshop is designed for junior faculty looking to get concrete guidance on how to prepare R01-level grants for the NIH. The workshop will be held in person over two half-days and will be highly interactive.

• Thursday, September 4, 2025 – 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Seminar Structure:
• Two half day sessions
• Combined lecture format and engagement activities
• Content tailored to writing for NIH
Expected Outcomes:
• Broader understanding of the grant planning, writing, and review process for preparing an NIH proposal
• Ability to make less arbitrary and more informed writing decisions

Cost: $80 per person
This fee covers the required AtKisson Training Group handbook for each attendee and for the lunch on both days.
Note: The cost of the workshop itself is being covered partly by BHI funds ($5,000) and partly by a Rutgers Mutual Mentoring grant ($6,000) awarded to Miriam, Linden, Natasha, and Soha.
