The Princeton Neuroscience Institute and Rutgers Brain Health Institute hosted for the first-ever Social Science Mixer—a new initiative designed to strengthen scientific and social connections across New Jersey’s two major neuroscience hubs on October 24, 2025, gathering more than 60 postdoctoral fellows and graduate students.
The New Jersey Autism Center of Excellence and the Rutgers University Center for Autism Research, Education, and Services in the BHI hosted a transformative symposium on September 16, 2025, uniting autism spectrum disorder researchers and professionals to share actionable science that emphasized practical training and advanced biomarkers.
The Rutgers Addiction Research Center in the BHI hosted its Fall Symposium on September 5, 2025, bringing together neuroscientists, clinicians, and early-career researchers to explore groundbreaking advancements in addiction science. The keynote speaker, Dr. Huda Akil, a National Medal of Science recipient, presented “Searching for the Neurobiological and Genetic Basis of Temperament: Relevance to Addiction.”
We were honored to welcome Rutgers University President William Tate IV and Chancellor Brian Strom to the Center for Advanced Human Brain Imaging Research in BHI on August 22, 2025. President Tate toured CAHBIR’s human brain imaging research core facility which houses new 3T MRI, EEG and TMS equipment.
We hosted An Evening with Friends of Rutgers Brain Health Institute (FoRBHI) on May 21, 2025, featuring a presentation by BHI Director and opportunities to connect with Center Directors and faculty. Guests also enjoyed a performance by Metropolitan Opera soprano and Rutgers alumna Amanda Batista, accompanied by pianist Ye In Kwak.
We hosted the 2025 BHI Postdoc Recruitment Event on April 22–23, 2025, receiving over 100 applications and selecting 19 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows for a two-day, all-expenses-paid visit to Rutgers to explore postdoctoral opportunities in neuroscience and brain health research. The candidates gave short talks and met with faculty who have open positions and are actively recruiting.
2025 Krieger Klein Alzheimer’s Research Center Symposium
The Herbert and Jacqueline Krieger Klein Alzheimer’s Research Center in the BHI hosted its 2025 Symposium on March 19, featuring talks by Rutgers faculty and trainees engaged in Alzheimer’s disease research and welcomed over 100 attendees. The keynote speaker was Dr. Alison Goate.
The Center for Advanced Human Brain Imaging Research and the Rutgers-Princeton Center for Computational Cognitive Neuro-Psychiatry in the BHI hosted their first open house on March 13, 2025. Attendees explored cutting-edge brain research and learned how their support can contribute to the fight against neurological and psychiatric disorders.
BHI marked its 10th anniversary with the 2024 Research & Service Awards ceremony held on December 10, 2024, honoring the exceptional contributions of BHI faculty to neuroscience research and service. The awards recognized outstanding achievements across four categories, recognizing faculty who have significantly impacted brain health research and service.
The 2024 BHI Symposium marked the 10th anniversary of the BHI, a milestone for celebrating a decade of innovation, collaboration, and groundbreaking advancements in neuroscience. Held on November 14–15 at the Douglass Student Center, the two-day event brought together more than 300 academic leaders, researchers, trainees, and industry professionals.
2024 RUCARES & NJACE Annual Conference
The Rutgers Center for Autism Research, Education, and Services in the BHI and the New Jersey Autism Center of Excellence hosted the First Annual Conference on September 6, 2024. The event brought together local and national autism researchers and physicians for a day of presentations and discussions on cutting-edge topics in autism research and clinical care.
2024 RARC Symposium
The Rutgers Addiction Research Center in the BHI hosted the Fall Symposium on September 6, 2024, highlighting Rutgers’ extensive addiction research and clinical services while providing a platform to showcase ongoing and new studies and foster valuable professional connections.
BHI Strategic Planning Retreat: Brainstorming for Brain Health
We hosted the BHI Strategic Planning Retreat: Brainstorming for Brain Health on June 12, 2024, bringing together members to review BHI’s tremendous growth over the past decade and to reimagine its future by refining our vision, mission, and priorities for continued expansion.
2024 Krieger Klein Alzheimer’s Research Center Symposium
The Inaugural Symposium for the Herbert and Jacqueline Krieger Klein Alzheimer’s Research Center in the BHI was held on March 28, 2025, at the Busch Student Center, featuring a keynote address by Dr. David A. Bennett and presentations from Rutgers faculty and trainees conducting Alzheimer’s disease research.
2023 BHI Postdoc Recruitment Event
We hosted the Postdoc Recruitment Event on November 29–30, 2023, where 18 outstanding candidates selected from over 120 applications gave talks, met with neuroscience faculty and trainees from across Rutgers, and attended the Ninth Annual BHI Symposium.
2023 Ninth Annual BHI Symposium
The Ninth Annual BHI Symposium was held on November 30, 2023. More than 275 faculty, trainees, and staff attended the symposium. The symposium featured talks by Rutgers faculty, a keynote speech by Dr. Michael Shadlen, and poster presentations by students and postdocs. Awards were given to the top three posters.
