Rutgers Brain Health Institute Research & Service Awards
BHI marked its 10th anniversary with the 2024 Research & Service Awards ceremony held on December 10, 2024, at the Zimmerli Art Museum in New Brunswick, honoring the exceptional contributions of BHI faculty to neuroscience research and service. The awards recognized outstanding achievements across four categories, recognizing faculty who have significantly impacted brain health research and service. Each awardee received a commemorative plaque and a monetary award. Learn more














2024 Tenth Annual BHI Symposium
The 2024 BHI Symposium marked the 10th anniversary of the Rutgers Brain Health Institute, a milestone for celebrating a decade of innovation, collaboration, and groundbreaking advancements in neuroscience. Held on November 14–15 at the Douglass Student Center, the two-day event brought together more than 300 academic leaders, researchers, trainees, and industry professionals. RUCARES & NJACE Annual Conference
The Rutgers Center for Autism Research, Education, and Services (RUCARES) at the BHI and the New Jersey Autism Center of Excellence (NJACE) hosted the First Annual Conference on September 6, 2024. The event brought together local and national autism researchers and physicians for a day of presentations and discussions on cutting-edge topics in autism research and clinical care.











BHI Strategic Planning Retreat: Brainstorming for Brain Health
We hosted the BHI Strategic Planning Retreat: Brainstorming for Brain Health on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the Rutgers Club on Livingston Campus. Over the last ten years, BHI has grown tremendously, and the goal is to review our vision and mission and imagine the BHI of the future by setting priorities that will serve the membership and fuel further expansion. The all-day gathering at the Retreat provided us with an opportunity to connect and develop the strategic plan that will guide the Institute’s growth and success for years to come.











Herbert and Jacqueline Krieger Klein Alzheimer’s Research Center Symposium
The Inaugural Symposium for the Herbert And Jacqueline Krieger Klein Alzheimer’s Research Center at the BHI was held on March 28, 2024 in the Busch Student Center. The symposium opened with introductory remarks by the Director of the center, Dr. Michal Schnaider Beeri. The Keynote Speaker was David A. Bennett, MD, Director of the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center and the Robert C. Borwell Professor of Neurological Sciences at Rush University, Chicago. The day-long symposium included talks by Rutgers faculty and trainees involved in AD research. More than 100 participants attended the inaugural symposium.









2023 BHI Postdoc Recruitment Event
We hosted the Postdoc Recruitment Event on November 29-30, 2023. Eighteen outstanding postdoc candidates selected from more than 120 applications attended the event. The candidates gave talks, met neuroscience faculty and trainees from across Rutgers, and attended the Ninth Annual BHI Symposium. A post-event survey showed that the candidates were very impressed by the opportunities for furthering their training at Rutgers.













2023 Ninth Annual BHI Symposium
The Ninth Annual BHI Symposium was held on November 30, 2023, at the Douglass Student Center in New Brunswick. More than 275 faculty, trainees, and staff attended the symposium (a new record!). The symposium featured talks by Rutgers faculty, a keynote speech by Dr. Michael Shadlen, and poster presentations by students and postdocs. Awards were given to the top three posters.
